Now is the time for community members to have their say.

Port Macquarie-Hastings Council has a suite of draft integrated planning and reporting documents, including the draft 2021-2022 Operational Plan, on public exhibition until April 16.

The draft Operational Plan outlines the activities, performance measures and budgets to achieve the commitments made in the Delivery Program.

A report to the March 17 council meeting said the 2021-2022 financial year would see the council continue to deliver/commence some major infrastructure works.

Proposed projects include town and village signs ($50,000), road resurfacing and rehabilitation works ($3.3 million), and commencing detailed design and approvals for Lorne Road sealing ($250,000).

Funds are also earmarked to start detailed design and approvals for the Lake Road duplication (Ocean Drive to Chestnut Road) and for the multi-million dollar Gordon Street upgrade.

That is just a snapshot of the proposed projects.

Cr Rob Turner highlighted a range of projects in the draft plan including planning for the Port Macquarie aquatic centre and Hastings regional sports fields, as well as funding for stage two of the Kew main street program.

He also spoke about the investigations and concept design for the Bril Bril Road sealing and the start of detailed design and approvals for the sealing of Lorne Road.

Cr Turner encouraged people to have a look at the draft Operational Plan and provide feedback.

Deputy mayor Lisa Intemann also urged people to lodge submissions.

"I encourage people to have a look at the budget, find your favourite topics and give us submissions about what projects we might do this year or that might be kept in mind coming up for following years," she said.

Cr Geoff Hawkins said to have a balanced budget, in the age of COVID, was a remarkable achievement.

He also noted the large capital works program of almost $59 million.

A further report will be tabled at the June council meeting for the adoption of the suite of documents, detailing the submissions received from the public during the exhibition period.
