Despite only fielding a 12-man squad, United scored two goals in each half to overcome Oxley Vale Attunga 4-2 to replicate their victory from 2020.
Mitch Higgins and Ben Oakley found the back of the net twice each as United inflicted OVA's first defeat in 12 months.
"They hadn't been beaten since last time we played them because they went through their year undefeated," United coach Nathan Wade said.
"Their coach said hopefully that's a good omen again for them."
Wade was especially pleased with his side's ability to create opportunities and then convert them into goals although goalkeeper Cameron Higham stood up when needed.
"They threw everything at us and I don't think Cameron made as many saves as their 'keeper, but he made really good saves at the right time," he said.
United also progressed to the fourth round of the competition in 2020 before it was cancelled due to the pandemic.
"We were in round four last year and then it got canned so you could say we had a successful FFA Cup last season ... we never got beat," Wade said.
