The association's latest exhibition includes about 16 donated works with their sale proceeds to support the work of the Hastings Education Fund.
The Hastings Valley Fine Art Association will contribute up to $3000 to the Hastings Education Fund, including the proceeds from the donated works, to help young people follow their arts-related career dreams.
The association's president, Bernice Daher, said the organisation had been for some time looking at how it could give back.
Supporting the Hastings Education Fund is the right fit.
"The education of young people strikes a chord with our members," she said.
The exhibition features a total of just over 200 framed works and 80 unframed works across different styles, subjects and media.
Artists have donated about 16 of those works.
The exhibition runs until mid-April at the Hastings Fine Art Gallery in the grounds of the Mid North Coast Maritime Museum in William Street.
The gallery is open between 10am and 2pm from Wednesdays to Sundays.
Mrs Daher said supporters would not only be supporting local art but supporting young people in the community aiming to pursue a career in the arts.
Hastings Education Fund chair Jim O'Brien said the fund appreciated the wonderful support of the Hastings Valley Fine Art Association.
"We will be looking to allocate these funds [from Hastings Valley Fine Art Association] to students who have chosen something in the arts area," he said.
That could range from architecture to art teaching.
Arts-related students will receive non-cash grants to support them in their studies.
Hastings Education Fund provides financial assistance and support to help young people achieve their post-school education, training and vocation goals.
The fund, which also offers two annual scholarships, raises its money through the generosity of sponsors as well as fundraising.
The fund receives about 80 applications a year from students in a range of courses.
