I found our new general manager's statements about the manner in which she intends to approach her role very interesting.

Most new general managers (or CEOs in business) would take a cautious approach for at least the first six months in office. But it's great that she claims to be "an exceptional strategic thinker" and a "visionary leader".
We can then expect big things from her in the future and we should not be shy in what we expect her to achieve.
I was not quite sure what she meant by "a line in the sand".
I think our council has done quite well in its decision-making.
Just after the Mayor was elected, she went to Sydney to receive a prestigious award for Port Macquarie which was recognition for our council's progressive policies and actions.
We will have to see what changes she wants to make to achieve seventh generational decisions.
I expect that council motions will now include (in writing) how decisions will affect the next seven generations and how they will create more productivity. Interesting times ahead.
I was really pleased to see her state that she will personally listen to the community.
I hope that formal community consultation in future will include not only her but senior management and councillors as well.
I would like to wish her every success in her new position; I believe that the residents of Port Macquarie-Hastings will do so as well.
