The works to improve accessibility, shade cover, public facilities including barbecues and picnic shelters, outdoor showers and bike racks, is expected to take eight weeks to complete.
The works, conducted by Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, are a part of the Lake Cathie Foreshore Masterplan 2018.
The works follow on from the completion of a new playground, footpaths, amenities and construction of a skate park.
Works are funded with $280,000 from the Australian Government through the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.
The funding was announced by Dr David Gillespie, Member for Lyne, in October 2020.
The Lake Cathie community identified the preferred inclusions for the foreshore redevelopment in the Vision 2030 Plan Survey.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council has included the Lake Cathie foreshore reserve master plan and the construction of a skate park facility in its 2020-21 operational plan.
Future works include parking and road improvements on Ocean Drive and upgrades to the Bundella Avenue side of the foreshore.
