The rehabilitation of Dunbogan Bridge started on Wednesday, January 27. The entire rehabilitation includes strengthening of the piles and piers on the underside of the bridge, to resist 20-year flood loadings and to prolong the bridge's life by an additional 50 years.
Replacing steel joint plates and preventing further corrosion of the existing reinforcing steel, ensuring the bridge remains an unrestricted access route, so that large vehicles up to 59 tonne can safely cross the bridge.
The $5 million project is funded with $1.5 million by the Australian Government through the Bridges Renewal Program and $3.5 million contributed by Council.
