iKew Visitor Information Centre is celebrating the successful Driver Reviver during the holiday season

iKew Visitor Information Centre is celebrating the successful Driver Reviver during Christmas, New Year and the January 2021 holiday season.

This summer was considerably up with 1370 cups served over the 37 days from last year's summer school holidays of 37 days and 602 cups served.

The iKew Driver Reviver has been operating for seven years from the centre. The iKew Information Centre is open as usual this year but the driver reviver is now closed.

iKew Visitor Information Centre driver reviver coordinator Diane Hayes said electronic road signage erected by Roads and Maritime Service (RMS) on the north bound lane of the Pacific Highway has contributed to an increase in visitation.

The open/closed sign is operated by the volunteers at the centre and alerts drivers that the centre is open for driver reviver, where there is a cup of tea or coffee available by diverting from the highway into Kew.

The other contributing factors were the variable messaging sign board on the highway and the many visitors traveling to northern NSW.

iKew Visitor Information Centre acknowledges the support Roads and Maritime Service provided to the Driver Reviver program, thanks to our volunteers and the support of sponsored products we are able to provide the traveling public with a free cuppa.

Our main message to all the traveling public is to take a break every two hours. Stop, revive and survive. Come and visit your friendly driver reviver stops, have a free cuppa and a chat.

In our case (the iKew) have a browse around our unique local art and craft. Tourists and drivers can take a break from driving in a safe environment where an inviting visitor centre offers a range of goods for sale, public toilet amenities and a park/playground which are maintained by the volunteers from the iKew Visitor Information Centre.
