Despite having not raced since the cup day sprint at the track in October, Gold Bracelet provided Taree trainer, Ross Dawson, with a wonderful thrill and a progression to the Country Championship series when scoring in the $60,000 Queen of the North at Port Macquarie on Friday.

The daughter of Strategic Maneuver maintained her impeccable first-up record and continues a wonderful association with Ray Spokes as the popular north coast hoop has been aboard for all of her five victories.
Spokes had the mare perfectly positioned behind Za Za Zena and was able to make a move approaching the home bend to claim the early pacemaker, Dual Escape, in the straight.
Gold Bracelet scored by just under a length from Northern Wildrose with Dual Escape holding on for the minor prize.
Monica's Star was responsible for a creditable performance to finish just behind the placegetters after covering plenty of additional ground with last year's winner, Bellastar, making up good ground late.
Za Za Zena knocked up over the latter stages of the race after travelling on the speed while Charmmebaby was disappointing after being well back early and staying close to the rails in the final straight.
The victory highlights the wonderful training efforts of Ross Dawson who only has one other runner in his stable and he is sure Gold Bracelet can handle the increase in distance to 1400 metres for the Country Championship Qualifier at Taree next month.
The possession of a superb record of three wins and a second at the course provides plenty of confidence around her chances in the high prizemoney series.
Tracey Bartley originally had two entrants in the opening event with the decision to scratch Enamour for a tilt at Wyong on Sunday and running Lady Superspy proving a successful move.
Lady Superspy was able to obtain a soft run in transit before overpowering Asherla over the concluding stages for a comprehensive victory In the Schweppes Fillies and Mares Maiden Handicap.
Astute form students were keen about the chances of Fleet Air Arm in race two and the Kris Lees trained gelding landed some confident wagers when saluting for Dylan Gibbons in grand fashion on debut over Schiller Bay and Em Em D'ar.
What's Onemore broke her maiden status with gusto when Mikayla Weir burst clear on the Angela Graham trained filly to score by four lengths in race three while Dylan Gibbons made it a riding double for the Lees stable in the Class 2 Heat of the Rising Star event as Cool Missile powered to victory.
Elusive Eagle continued his great record at the Port track when Ben Looker raced clear on the Allan Denham trained gelding for a dominant win in the Benchmark 66 Handicap while Innervoice blew around her more fancied rivals as Ashley Morgan scored on the Jenny Graham trained filly in the following event.
The Looker and Denham combination celebrated a double when Go Gadget came from well back to rocket down the outside and score an impressive victory in the final event of the program.
The race meeting was conducted under relatively fine skies with the good four rated surface generally racing well despite providing some advantage to horses positioned on the speed.
Racing continues at Port on Sunday 7th February with the seven-event program highlighted by the preview of the Mid North Coast Championship heat for Class 4 aspirants.
The $150,000 district qualifier is scheduled for Taree on February 21 with the top two placegetters competing with other entrants around country NSW for the massive prizemoney pool on offer in the Newhaven Park Country Championship Final at Randwick on April 3.
