Port Macquarie is set to escape the heatwave conditions expected further south.
Weatherzone meteorologist Esteban Abellan said Saturday (January 23) and Tuesday (January 26) would probably be the hottest days here due to the northerly winds.
The maximum temperature over the next few days is predicted to hover around 29 to 30 degrees.
"The overnight temperatures will be in the high teens but that means there will be some relief overnight," Mr Abellan said.
He said a trough was approaching after the heat which may bring some showers by the middle of next week.
Heatwave conditions are predicted across the state's southern and central districts through the weekend and into Monday.
A hot air mass is expected to push the temperature well into the 40s in some locations.
