The Taste Bakehouse owner had 51cms of hair shaved off by Glamour Ends Hairdressing hairdresser Mandi Hill in Port Macquarie on Tuesday, January 19.
"The shave came about because I desperately needed a haircut since last year and thought I'd go a little further to do some good at the same time," she said.
"For the shave I've had 51cms chopped off, raised $3000 and I'm donating the hair to the Leukemia Foundation as well.
"It's definitely cooler having short hair. I've never had it this short before, I've always had shoulder length hair before this and most of the time I wear a hat anyway for work.
"I do feel that when I walk out in the street now I can feel the air on my head. It's very different and it's a lot cooler at work which can get pretty hot."
Mrs Day said she was most concerned about how to explain the new look to her children, Ashton, 6 and Darcy, 4.
"The kids inspired me to raise money because it's not fair that young children have to deal with cancer," she said.
"Knowing that I haven't had a haircut in over a year I wasn't sure how kids would react. We (husband Aaron and I) explained why it was happening and it turned out a lot better than I thought.
"I'd always be happy to do it again."
