The sun will make an appearance on Christmas Day, but there are still some light showers in the mix.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued its Christmas Day forecast and any brief appearance of the sun, after a week of rain across Port Macquarie-Hastings, will be welcome.
But there has been no complaint about the rain either aside from some areas impacted by minor flooding.
Twelve months ago, the region was battling bushfires and under level for water restrictions.
This week, both Port Macquarie and Cowarra off-creek storage dams are at 100 per cent capacity.
Temperature-wise, Christmas Day is aiming for a top of 27 degrees after a mild overnight minimum of 17 degrees. There is the possibility of a shower or two before conditions clear by Sunday, December 27.
Until then, a slow moving trough over northern New South Wales will interact with increasing tropical humidity to bring widespread rain to northern parts of the state during Monday, December 21.
A transient low pressure system may develop within this trough on Tuesday, December 22 but the system will weaken and move away to the east by Tuesday evening.
