Port Macquarie prodigy Ella Scaysbrook was back in the playground at St Joseph's Regional College on Monday barely 12 hours after she held on to win the overall Jack Newton Junior Golf event by one shot.
It avenged a loss by the same margin in the 2019 event, but she had to overturn a two-shot deficit heading into the second day at the Kew Country Club.
Third time proved to be a charm with the win following her success in Newcastle last month where she won the club championship at Newcastle Golf Course.
Dad Nick said it was a near-perfect display of golf following a brief lapse of concentration late on the first day which could have been disastrous.
"She had it under control on first day and then had a couple of double bogeys finishing the round on Saturday which she was disappointed with," he said.
"But she played well, made a birdie on the last hole on Sunday and held on to win by one shot."
The 14-year-old was runner-up in her age division last year to Claire Shin so the overall win in 2020 continued her progression through the ranks.
"She's definitely matured and is a lot more confident these days," Mr Scaysbrook said.
"She surprised herself a bit because she expected to play well, but I don't think she was expecting to win."
The family had a nervous wait after she returned to the clubhouse as her fade late on day one pushed her out of the leading group.
"She was one shot out of the final group after her round on Saturday which meant she finished a good half an hour before the leading group on Sunday," Mr Scaysbrook said.
"A win's a win, but she's going to take a lot of confidence out of it; she didn't do anything wrong even with a few par rounds."
The youngster will return to the course this weekend with another event scheduled for the Southern Highlands.
