Storm is a support dog at the Aruma Port One Group Home, which houses six people with varied disabilities.
Port Macquarie-Hastings residents have previously sponsored a GoFundMe campaign for Storm earlier this year when the labrador and border-collie cross needed surgery fro a torn tendon in her back leg.
Long term support worker Trevor Hodgert said Storm has recovered almost completely after having her operation.
"We received a lot of support and were able to fund the operation. She had the operation and came back to stay in the office," Mr Hodgert said.
"Storm lives here 24/7 and having her helps if anyone is upset. She is always available for a hug and has a calming influence.
"It's great to have a painting of her because Storm is immortalised on canvas and residents or people from outside can have conversations about her for years to come."
Local artist Jean Ballands said she has known Storm for years after painting her for an ARTWALK 2020 exhibition and taking her for walks near the home.
"Before the exhibition I was painting dachshunds and I wanted to show the town that could paint other dogs. Storm is special because she was a surrendered dog who has become a lap dog," she said.
"About six years ago I used to live around the corner and take Storm for walks. I decided that Storm gave me freedom and the free walks while studying.
"I have this lovely connection with her and that's what the painting signifies."
