Port Macquarie Pirates was successful in obtaining funding via the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council Community Grant Program for the indigenous art installation.
Yvette Williams, Port Pirates' indigenous liaison officer, worked alongside Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, Birpai Local Aboriginal Land Council, local sporting teams and businesses to bring the project to completion.
The project features the talents of local artists who have supplied stunning art for the installations. They are Steven 'Bimbil' Donovan (donated by family, Jason Holten), Jason Ridgeway of Blackboycreations and Angela Marr-Grogan of Angela Marr-Grogan Creations.
At the official unveiling, Jason Holten conducted the welcome to Birpai Country.
Port Pirates also thanks MR Welding, Digital Signs and Printing for their support and skills and to the clubs and organisations that sent in letters of support - Kempsey Cannonballs, Hastings Valley Vikings Rugby Union Club, Port Macquarie Junior Rugby Union, Little Athletics - Port Macquarie Club and Double Bridge Farm.
