Energy Forever raises funds through donations and business sponsorships for the purchase of solar power systems.
The systems are then installed on host sites in the region.
The host site pays Energy Forever for the electricity that is generated by the solar power system, at a reduced rate compared to their regular electricity provider.
"It's wonderful that we were able to finalise these arrangements a few days before NAIDOC week," Energy Forever treasurer, Angela Frimberger said.
"This is a lovely project in which everyone wins. Birpai will get access to discounted renewable energy through a fully funded solar system that will reduce their quarterly electricity bill and at the same time produce an income to Energy Forever which is used to fund our sustainable grants program.
"It will enable Birpai LALC to utilise their electricity savings on additional programs and activities within the local Aboriginal community.
"And both the Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Port Macquarie communities will reap the social and economic benefits of adding to the total grant funds available to other community organisations, reducing emissions and supporting the local renewable energy industry."
