Port Macquarie-Hastings residents have the opportunity to help produce a customised version of the world-popular board game Monopoly.
Winning Moves, manufacturers of the official Port Macquarie-Hastings version of Monopoly under license from Hasbro, say the game will be sold through exclusive local businesses in 2021.
Residents and visitors will be able to play the world's most popular board game in a way that pays tribute to all things Port Macquarie while supporting local businesses through what has been a challenging time.
From Monday (November 9) until March 2021, fans can voice which locations they would like to see featured on the board via the official Port Macquarie Monopoly Facebook page.
The edition will see locally themed squares replace Mayfair and Park Lane from the original London Monopoly board and include a customised 'Community Chest' and 'Chance' playing cards, making the entire game a truly local experience.
"Finally, we have the privilege to bring this globally loved game to this beautiful area. We want to ensure that Port Macquarie-Hastings Monopoly is an accurate portrayal of what locals love about the city, so we would love for everyone to get on board and send us their recommendations of what they would like to see included," Dale Hackett, representative from Winning Moves said.
"Anything and everything is up for consideration - from The Breakwall and Sea Acres Rainforest, to Innes Ruins and the fantastic restaurants - so get involved."
There will also be opportunities in the coming months for school and individuals to get involved in the creation of the game.
Monopoly first hit the shelves in 1935 and is played in 114 countries in over 47 different languages.
The new Monopoly: Port Macquarie-Hastings Edition will be available from May from select local businesses across the region.
