Cr Pinson was nominated in the the 2020 Minister's Awards for Women in Local Government in the representative for regional-rural category.
She said it was an honour to be nominated and she thanked the members of the Port Macquarie-Hastings community who considered her achievements worthy of entering.
"These awards are a wonderful way to celebrate the accomplishments of women in local government and recognise the remarkable women servin in councils across NSW," Cr Pinson said.
"With women representing less than one third of all councillors in NSW, Local Government NSW has launched a campaign to inspire and empower more women to stand in their communities and run for local council in the September 2021 local government elections.
"I'd like to encourage any women in our local community who are passionate about our area and are considering running for office in 2021 to visit the Office of Local Government website and hear from former and current female councillors about their experience in local government and gain further insight into becoming a councllor."
Cr Pinson said the role of councillor and mayor has been rewarding and it was a privilege to be a part of the decision making for Port Macquarie-Hastings.
"It's really wonderful," she said.
Cr Pinson, deputy mayor Lisa Intemann and Cr Sharon Griffiths are council's female representatives.
