The group's main aim is to raise awareness of the plight of asylum seekers and lobby our local, state and federal government for a just policy.
It also raises financial support for initiatives and causes relating to asylum seekers.
The group has facilitated the settlement of several refugees - mostly Tamil people from Sri Lanka - to live in Port Macquarie and to work, study and contribute to our region.
Support ranges from English lessons, to accommodation assistance, advocacy, help with social services, and social and emotional support.
The group also works with Home Among the Gum Trees - an organisation that offers refugees supported holidays in regional Australia.
