The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called at 4.30am on Thursday morning (September 24) to fly the John Hunter Hospital medical retrieval team to Port Macquarie Base Hospital to carry out an urgent medical transfer.
The woman in her 30s suffered internal injuries following a motor vehicle accident in Port Macquarie.
The accident occurred just after midnight on Hastings River Drive between a car and a truck.
The woman sustained serious abdominal injuries and injuries to her head and was taken to Port Macquarie Base Hospital in a serious condition, a NSW Ambulance spokesperson said.
She was stabilised and airlifted to the John Hunter Hospital.
