The Mid North Coast Writers' Centre will be launched as part of the arts and cultural celebration, ArtWalk.
Port Macquarie-based children's author Wendy Haynes came up with the writers' centre initiative and reached out to the writing community.
There is now a seven-member board, website, Facebook page and Zoom workshops scheduled in November and December.
The Mid North Coast Writers' Centre is a mobile service which enables writers to learn their craft in an affordable way.
Ms Haynes said support was extremely important as writing was such a lonely kind of career.
The Mid North Coast Writers' Centre president said the writers' centre was here to offer affordable workshops, events, community, and more, to enable writers in the region and beyond to build on their skills and knowledge.
The centre supports writers and writers' groups.
A survey, which gauged the needs of the writing community, will inform the centre's offerings over at least the next 12 months.
"There is a hunger to be part of a writing community," Ms Haynes said.
She said it was envisaged to offer workshops at different locations down the track.
The Mid North Coast Writers' Centre will be launched at Sunset Gallery between 11am and 12.30pm on October 3 as part of the ArtWalk program.
A link to free tickets is available at the Mid North Coast Writers' Centre Facebook page with numbers restricted due to COVID-19.
More information about the Mid North Coast Writers' Centre is available on its website.
