That has been the experience of Port Macquarie business Hauslein Tiny House Co.

Hauslein Tiny House Co spokesperson Sarah Rohdich said there had been so much interest and so many orders recently.

"We are feeling grateful for this opportunity," she said.

The business has employed more staff to meet the demand and the workshop space is expanding too.

People were thinking outside the box a little bit more amid COVID-19, Mrs Rohdich said, and sometimes simplifying their lives purely to reduce stress.

Tiny houses can also provide a means to self-isolate, if needed, as a result of the health pandemic.

"There is a lot of financial and economic uncertainty at this time," Mrs Rohdich said.

"Especially those who have already been stretched are looking for other options and some way they can live comfortably and securely without having the burden of a big debt."

Mrs Rohdich says it is still early days for Hauslein Tiny House Co.

The business expects to reach its 16^th build by the end of January.

Orders have come from alpine Victoria to the Tweed with the tiny houses bound for full-time homes to a weekend retreat, tourist accommodation and guest accommodation.

Locals are also interested in the tiny house movement which has swept the globe.

"We have our first two local orders with the builds to be completed before Christmas," Mrs Rohdich said.

She said the tiny house movement was growing as more people saw its value.

Hauslein Tiny House Co's tiny houses are manufactured in Port Macquarie's industrial area.

There are three tiny house models to choose from with customisation available to meet clients' needs.
