The Port Macquarie Pirates Rugby Union Club face the Snappers at Stuart Park in Port Macquarie from 12.45pm on Saturday, September 5. The Pirates made their way into the grand final after defeating Southern Cross Marlins in Coffs Harbour, 34 to 24.
Port Pirates hooker Lisa Vogel said the team has struggled against the Snappers this season.
"We're coming into the game really strong and we have a few girls carrying over from previous seasons. A good chunk of our team have been in the three grand finals previously," Mrs Vogel said.
"We have some brand new and under 16s girls who have come up to womens. It's been really cool having them in this season and making sure they can come up to seniors.
"It has been a new experience because we are a new team and learning how we all play with each other.
"Already the atmosphere in the team is just excited to be here again (in the final). We have won the last three premierships and it's good to be back with the opportunity to go against a strong Snappers team.
"The Snappers have some amazing players and representative players which is exciting to play against. I hope we can turn that atmosphere into good go-forward rugby on the day.
"We have played the Snappers twice already this round, we haven't beaten them yet this season. But that was also the case last season and we won the grand final then. Pirates and Snappers have quite a history of playing strong and active, hard-hitting rugby."
A win against the Snappers could set the club up for a double grand final victory on Saturday, as the undefeated Pirates U18s side also seek a grand final win against Southern Cross University Marlins at 2pm.
Coach Thomas Harrison said his side will look to control the ball and contain key players as their strategy.
"I think it will be a good hit out and quite an even day. The girls have trained very well and shown their grit last week to put in a great effort so far," he said.
"Our strategy will be to control the play and making sure our possession means a lot to us. Holding the ball and doing something important with it.
"We will go out and do what we do, let them make the mistakes. We will be looking to contain those rep players that they do have."
