Port Macquarie-Hastings Council continues to deliver priority projects in the Recreation Action Plan which gives a framework for the provision of recreational facilities.
Projects started or completed during the 2019-2020 financial year are scattered across the local government area from Wauchope to Telegraph Point, Port Macquarie, the North Shore and the Camden Haven.
A report to the August council meeting said the most significant recreation project completed in 2019-2020 was the Stuart Park regional sporting precinct upgrade.
The almost $4 million project brought together $3.192 million from the state government and $800,000 from the council.
The makeover positioned Stuart Park as destination to compete on the sports fields, exercise, play, relax, have a barbecue or take your pooch to the off-leash dog park.
The Recreation Action Plan has been revised to reflect a number of factors including the changing community, council and state government priorities, condition-based asset information, likely availability of funding sources and desire to optimise the use of existing open spaces.
The council noted the Recreation Action Plan 2019-2025 progress achieved to date and endorsed the updated Recreation Action Plan 2020-2025.
