Volunteers from MakerSpace have sewn about 400 face masks and counting in response to community demand.
Masks are a COVID-19 risk reduction measure.
There is an evolving range of fabrics with three mask sizes - two children's masks and an adult version - to choose from.
MakerSpace manager Sue English described the mask project as the MakerSpace's biggest fundraising opportunity to date.
"It's an opportunity for us to equip the space with big ticket items that would normally only come to us through grants," she said.
"That will increase the capacity at MakerSpace."
MakerSpace, a creative space and community meeting place, is a community outreach service of the Mid North Coast Community College.
Volunteers are sewing the masks, while practising social distancing, at MakerSpace or at home to fulfil online orders.
Two Nautilus College students with an aptitude for sewing are among those helping out.
There are about six volunteers on board, Ms English said, but they could probably do with another dozen.
"We would like to get ahead of our orders so people can drop in and pick up a mask or we can sell them around town," she said.
"Everyone is looking for local products."
The state government is strongly encouraging greater use of masks in high-risk public settings to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Masks should be considered a fourth line of defence after staying home if unwell and getting tested, maintaining 1.5-metre social distancing and good hand hygiene.
People can order the face masks through the MakerSpace website.
MakerSpace is also seeking donations of elastic and pins.
Contact MakerSpace on 6583 7288 to volunteer or donate to the mask making project.
