Police are conducting further searches under a coronial order as part of the ongoing investigation.
The search is believed to be centred on a rural property on Miles Drive, which runs parallel to the Pacific Highway.
The coronial inquest into the 2014 disappearance of William began in March 2019 with hearings held in Taree and at Lidcombe Coroner's Court.
The inquest was suspended in March 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Prior to being halted, the hearing was yet to hear from convicted paedophile and person of interest Frank Abbott and particularly his relationship with another Mid-North Coast resident Ray Porter.
Abbott was one of 38 people included on the witness list.
The court is yet to hear his testimony.

The court previously heard Mr Porter, who has since died from kidney failure, told an aged care home nurse in 2019 that he had given a lift to his "mate" and a "little boy" and driven them 300 kilometres north.
Mr Porter and Abbott were known to be friends and fishing buddies.
The court heard that fresh leads had been uncovered by the inquest and new witnesses could be called.
It's not known when the inquest, before Deputy State Coroner Harriet Grahame, will conclude.
"Nothing in relation to this matter I consider to be a cold case," Ms Grahame said.
"It's an ongoing investigation, it's continuing, I'm happy to indicate that."
Abbott is among hundreds of "persons of interest" in the Tyrrell investigation.
Three-year-old William Tyrrell disappeared nearly six years ago while playing at his foster grandmother's home on Benaroon Drive`
The inquest is set to resume later this year in Lidcombe.
No one has been charged over the boy's disappearance.
