On Tuesday, March 31 spokesperson from the NSW Police said there have been no reports of any fines issued by the Mid North Coast Police District for COVID-19 related offences.
The NSW Health Minister has made a number of directions under the Public Health Act, which require people to self-isolate if they are returned travellers, to not conduct or attend mass gatherings, to observe social distancing and to close particular premises.
From Tuesday, March 31 an individual can be fined $11,000 or be sent to jail for six months, or both, for leaving their home without a "reasonable excuse".
Mid North Coast Police District Chief Inspector Mick Aldridge said police are carrying out patrols across the Port Macquarie-Hastings and Camden Haven regions.
He said police understand people want to get out and go to the beach to exercise or to have a quick swim.
However, he wants to remind people they are not allowed to congregate in groups on the sand for prolonged periods of time.
Port Macquarie ALS Lifeguards are also asking people not to loiter, sit at tables or park benches, or sunbake via a message on their social media pages.
The spokesperson from NSW Police said officers are continuing to conduct regular patrols throughout the entire police district.
"They are carrying out their regular taskings and adding on COVID-19 compliance checks also," she said.
The NSW Police Force will continue to work closely with NSW Health and other state and Commonwealth agencies to minimise health risks to the wider community.
