On Tuesday, March 17 the cheapest fuel was priced at 125.9 by an independent station located on Gordon Street. Two BP stations had unleaded petrol priced at 129.9.
The most expensive unleaded petrol in Port Macquarie was priced at 146.9.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, March 17 majority of petrol stations in Laurieton and North Haven had fuel priced as low as 126.9.
The price drop is significant when comparing prices from Wednesday, March 11 where majority of petrol stations in Port Macquarie were charging 151.9 for unleaded fuel. At the time, the cheapest fuel was priced at 129.9 by the independent station located on Gordon Street.
Last week a spokesperson from the National Roads and Motorists' Association (NRMA) predicted the price drop, which she said would be in line with the fall in world oil prices.
According to the March 16 NRMA weekly fuel report, global oil prices are now at the lowest since December 2008 due to a number of factors, including the expansion of coronavirus cases across 142 countries.
"As a result, Australian motorists could see fall of between 10-15 cpl for both unleaded and diesel prices, over the next two to four weeks," the report states.
The NRMA urges people to arm themselves with knowledge and to find the best price of fuel in their area.
This action, the NRMA spokesperson said could save people hundreds of dollars each year.
