The Sharks scored four unanswered tries after they conceded the first with co-coach James Kelly, Dylan Adams, James Newell and Piper all crossing for four-pointers.
"All the little things we have worked on at training the boys did; our scramble defence was good," Kelly said.
"We still want to work on pushing up in support because you can't score tries if there's no one there to pass to and I thought we did that pretty well.
"It's a fitness and attitude thing because you can watch a bloke have a run or not or you can move up in support."
Kelly said the performance of prop Nic Andriessen, centre Adams and Kieran Gallagher who spent some time at both hooker and five-eighth will all provide welcome selection headaches.
"The main thing we were looking for was seeing how everyone worked in new positions," Kelly said.
"Chris Green was good at halfback and will probably stay there; it showed our depth is strong because we had half reserve and half first grade players available."
A number of regular first graders were unavailable for the match including Mitch Smith, Koby Smith and Harry Hanley who played for North Coast under-23s in the first round of the country championships.
The Sharks next trial will be against Coffs Comets on March 21 at Wauchope where all four grades will be in action.
