The ladies side is sporting a new coach - Madi Corbett - who steps into the role for the first time. Corbett said the ladies are on track but team cohesion will be the main area of focus.
"The ladies have only had a couple of training sessions but everything is going well so far and we are all excited for the 2020 season," Corbett said.
"At the moment we are still trying to drum up some interest and getting the ladies committed to playing this season but all things considered we have a good team and we are only going to get stronger.
"I am stepping into the role as coach this year so there will be an adjustment period for us all but I think if we can come together we will have a great chance at the season."
Corbett said fitness was another big focus for the group who are hoping to add a handful more players to the side before the season starts in a few months.
"We have all had a break during summer so fitness is a priority for everyone," she said.
"Juggling work and life commitments is always tricky but all the ladies are really positive and we are hoping to go further than we did last season.
"As preseason continues and fitness builds we will turn out attention to tactics and fine tuning our skills but we have time."
Meanwhile the men's side are hoping a healthy mix of experience and youth will see them victorious. Courtney Scott said the boys were optimistic they have everything they need to succeed this season.
"Unofficially we have been back training since before Christmas but we are now back training twice a week," Scott said.
"We have lots of young guys who are coming through as well as the more experienced boys staying on so we hope we will have a great year.
"At the moment our biggest focus is defence amd just giving the young blokes all the tools they need to feel supported by the older guys."
Scott said the team's goal this year is to make finals and to do that they have been focusing on staying injury free.
"These days the Hastings League is very competitive and all the teams are very professional in how they approach training," he said.
"At the moment there is no easy-beat team because everyone in the league are pushing themselves more and more as the years go on.
"All the boys love playing for Kendall as there is a big sense of pride in our town. We have a great following to games and the boys love running out in their blues knowing they are representing Kendall."
Scott said the season officially gets underway for the Blues on April 18 with the boys going up against rivals Laurieton.
