As my wife Anne and myself were close friends of Merv and Pam Wallis, I will not stand by and allow you to sell what is not morally yours.
The land was donated by the Wallis family and the church was constructed by our community.
Pam, who recently passed away, has fought this fight before.
Regardless of our faith all people in our community have contributed to the upkeep of this community church.
Residents have memorials to their deceased loved ones and Anne and I were married there in November 1997.
I propose that if it is about revenue under the guise of renewal and restructure, that you sell the building to Pappinbarra community at reasonable cost.
You may have legal recourse to sell the building but morally no and if need be I will initiate a class action by the community of Pappinbarra to defend our right in court.
If you doubt our resolve ask Reverend Judy Taylor who is a mate of mine and stood by me in hard times.
