Phoenix hadn't played a game since Christmas, but there were no signs of any rustiness in their comprehensive 13-1 victory over Lakers.
Phoenix had the bye in the first week back, but their strong combination pitching battery of Naomi Boyd and Courtney Owen led the way.
They jumped out to an early four-run lead after the opening three innings before they doubled their lead in the fourth innings to a match-winning eight-run advantage.
Lakers shortstop Catherine Carroll gave her side something to cheer about with a home run in their first time at bat, but it would prove to be their only highlight of the day.
Phoenix girls Bec Elford, Stephanie Matheson and Courtney Owen all batted strongly throughout the game with the rest of the team backing them up.
At the top of the fifth innings Phoenix scored another five runs to close out Lakers on the way to a 12-run victory.
