And before we go any further let me make it known I'm a Sydney Sixers fan too, but let's continue.
"Move the grand final!" have been the cries from certain corners of the BBL fraternity.
"How can we have a 10-week competition that ends without a match?"
It's hardly surprising most of that noise has emanated from Melbourne (after the Stars took the long way to the final despite being the best side all season).
But those in lime green haven't been quiet either which is also hardly a surprise.
Saturday's match at the SCG appears almost certain to be a washout with more than 100 millimetres of rain forecast for Sydney over the weekend.
Yes, a match would have been nice.
But Mother Nature had other ideas and it looks as though she will rob us of what could have been a grand final for the ages.
One-versus-two. Smith, Hazlewood, Lyon and Henriques up against Maxwell, Stoinis, Handscomb and Zampa.
But what is being conveniently forgotten about is this: We wouldn't have this issue if the Stars didn't - dare I say it - choke in their first finals contest this year.
They've been the best-performing side all season - no one can doubt that - but what we all love about Australian sport is the uncertainty that surrounds semi-finals.
You can be the best side all season and not lift the trophy at season's end - just ask Parramatta in 2001, or St George Illawarra in the mid 2010s.
We all know that.
But back to the point.
It would have been farcical to move the match from Sydney to Melbourne based purely on something out of Cricket Australia's control.
It would have also made a mockery of the whole competition and rendered the grand final qualifier last weekend - which the Sixers won - pointless.
The Sixers appear odds-on to be crowned BBL09 champions without a ball being bowled in the final match of the season.
But that's the benefit you receive when you earn the right to host a grand final.
Rain is one of those elements that confuses a lot of cricketers - both past and present. And dare I say, those cricketers of the future.
It's one of the few sports that can be washed out if the heavens open at the wrong time.
As far as the Melbourne Stars are concerned, this much-needed rain has happened at precisely the wrong time.
But they only have themselves to blame.
What else is happening in sport?
