Children from ages seven to 10 are invited to get involved with Master Blasters cricket when it kicks off at Wayne Richards Oval on February 7.
Port Macquarie Junior Cricket Club (PMJCC) president James Kay said the seven-week program was designed for kids of all abilities, with everyone getting a chance to bat, bowl and field.
"Each week on a Friday afternoon, participants will play in short, modified games of cricket inspired by the popular Big Bash League format," Kay said.
"The emphasis is on enjoyment and developing the players' skills, and every registered player will receive a free shirt in their Master Blaster pack."
The first week of the program, on February 7, will be a free 'come n try' session where anyone interested in the Master Blaster program will be able to turn up and give it a go.
Players who are already registered with PMJCC through one of the other local junior programs are encouraged to bring their friends along.
Kay pointed out that parents had the opportunity to use their Active Kids Voucher from the NSW government to cover the cost of the program.
"As these vouchers apply for a calendar year, new vouchers for 2020 became available on January 1 and these can be used to cover the cost of Master Blaster registration," he said.
Parents and carers can register their children for the Master Blaster program by searching online for 'Port Macquarie Junior Cricket Club' and following the links on the website.
Anyone seeking more information about the program is also welcome to contact PMJCC secretary Natalie Jordan by email at nataliejane.73@bigpond.com.
