Firstly, why did council wait until after the summer holidays to bring in these restrictions? If things were as grave as we are led to believe, then would it not have been prudent to bring in level 4 before the huge influx of tourists?
Much as other cities and towns have done in other areas of our State. Bathurst, Orange, Dubbo for example. Once again it seems the long-suffering ratepayers have to bear the consequences of council's incompetence.
Secondly, why, for a rapidly growing regional area, do we have a water storage system that relies on pumping the water into an inadequate reservoir, that is not fed by streams and rivers?
Surely a dam built across a major river, needs to be prioritised if we expect to continue to expand our boundaries and population?
Thirdly, why are we expected to continue to have to pay the same water availability/service charges, when in fact we cannot access our share of the water?
I would think in fairness, council should reduce such charges until the restrictions are lifted?
Finally, maybe council should limit all further housing construction, and particularly high density housing, until the water issues are resolved.
Or is it the case of burying their heads in the sand and hoping things somehow sort themselves out?
I am more and more convinced that our present council and its managers, are not managers, but reactionaries.
They react to the situation rather than manage it nor plan for the future.
