All 30,000 permanent NAB employees are being given an extra day's leave in 2020 to take a long weekend or a day trip anywhere in Australia impacted by recent bushfires.
Greater Port Macquarie is among the eligible areas for NAB employees to visit under the initiative.
NAB CEO Ross McEwan said NAB heard calls from colleagues and customers on the enormous economic challenge which bushfire-affected communities faced and they wanted to take immediate action.
"By giving NAB employees an extra day's leave, we hope to help businesses such as cafes, restaurants, tour operators, hotels and other accommodation providers to get back on their feet," Mr McEwan said.
"Focusing on the recovery and rebuilding of these communities is critical and this initiative is another way NAB can play a role to support today and in the weeks and months ahead."
Greater Port Macquarie Tourism Association president Janette Hyde welcomed the initiative.
"I think it is a great idea and very forward-thinking," she said.
"If we can get some of those people to visit us, we would be delighted."
NAB employees will be provided with a list of bushfire-affected communities across Australia to visit.
Greater Port Macquarie's organisations and tourism operators emphasise the region is open for business in the wake of the bushfires.
Mrs Hyde said infrastructure had not been affected by bushfires, there were events coming up and a diverse range of things to do.
She said the big tourism push now focused on Easter and the school holidays.
