But people who want to help are asking Port Macquarie Landcare where and how they can replace the trees lost in recent bushfires.
I suggest starting at home by planting native trees, shrubs, and ground covers.
Soon they will be feeding and sheltering wildlife such as birds, mammals, reptiles, and even insects that are pollinators and also are food for other animals.
Come to our Nursery to get native plants each Monday, 9am to noon, at 22 Blackbutt Road - see www.landcareportmac.com.au
Keeping cats inside is a high priority as native animals and birds are very vulnerable, being hungry and weak and lacking shelter.
Uncontrolled dogs are also a threat to wildlife.
Please remember wildlife rescuers also need your support at www.fawna.org.au
