Higher School Certificate success today for this strong sibling duo was not about the final mark. They did it for their mum who passed away earlier this year from a brain tumour.
Matilda and Tom are graduates of St Joseph's Regional College in Port Macquarie.
In 2018 their mother and registered nurse Erica 'Ric' Walker, was diagnosed with a brain tumor.
More than 800 people attended a Rally for Ric fundraiser in January contributing $43,000 in community support.
She underwent rehabilitation, radiation and chemotherapy but passed away on September 29 while comforted by family and friends.
"To have her get sick and pass away was really hard," said Matilda.

It was the worst time of my life to be honest and the hardest thing we have ever had to go through.
- Matilda Walker
The twins and husband Mick Walker assisted in Erica's fulltime care after she lost mobility in her left side.
"We weren't really stressed about exams but just more stressed about what was going on at home," said Tom.
"We kind of had school as a break to get into a different mind set, because as soon as we were home we'd be giving dad a break because he'd been with mum all day," said Matilda.
Despite the challenges, Matlida has successfully accepted an early entry into a Bachelor of Agriculture at the University of New England.
You never know what's going to happen, you just need to relax and just be grateful for everything you've got.

"We're very proud that we made it through and we both have stuff moving forward into 2020," said Matilda.
"I'm deferring my university start for a year to do a traineeship at the Allstars Studio of Dance and Theatre Arts in Laurieton. Hopefully 2020 will be a better year."
Tom is moving to Manly in January to play rugby union for a year with the Manly Marlins Rugby Union Football Club.
