The defending champion Wildcats were the big movers in round 11, with two more wins giving them four in the space of nine days.

A 12-5 record for the red-hot men from out west is applying heat to the 12-3 Kings but it's a long way back to Melbourne and Adelaide, who round out the top four with 8-7 returns.

After some recent wobbles, Sydney rediscovered their emphatic best with a crushing 104-81 triumph over former bogey team Melbourne United.

The 23-point margin, powered by 28 points from former United star Casper Ware, was the Kings' largest of the season and their biggest in Melbourne for 17 years.

Jae'sean Tate finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds, an influential presence after Andrew Bogut fouled out early.

Ware's status as an evergreen NBL scorer is matched by Bryce Cotton, who poured in 24 points in the win over Cairns (88-84) and followed it with 23 against Brisbane (86-78) to give him 100 across the last four games.

Allied with a miserly defence, Perth are looking ominous.

Defensive kingpin Damian Martin, who played his 300th game for the Wildcats, against Brisbane, said Cotton was peerless among those he has played alongside over a decade at Perth.

"James Ennis was a special player, but I think Bryce is the best player I have played alongside in a Wildcats uniform and I don't say that lightly," he said.

Adelaide improved two places to fourth off the back of thrilling wins over South East Melbourne (113-111) and the New Zealand Breakers (99-96) in the space of 48 hours.

The Auckland triumph on Sunday was capped by an ice-cool three-pointer from Jerome Randle with 2.3 seconds on the clock to break the deadlock.

South East Melbourne completed the weekend with an overtime 112-105 win over Cairns, with John Roberson's eight three-pointers proving to be match-winning weapons for the hosts in a 32-point haul.

The round is completed on Monday when last-placed Illawarra host Melbourne.
