Yellow recycling bins will be collected weekly between Monday 23 December and Friday 3 January, replacing the regular fortnightly service. Your collection day will stay the same, just put your yellow bin out each week on the night before.
Council Group Manager, Ashley Grummitt is encouraging everyone to spend a little extra time sorting their recycling into their yellow and green bins over Christmas.
"The additional yellow bin service, together with the regular weekly green bin service makes it really easy to save your red bin from bursting during the holidays. It's pretty surprising what you can put into your green and yellow bins," Mr Grummitt said.
"Everyone is doing a great job recycling, but we know Christmas is a busy time when we generate a lot more recycling including items such as wrapping paper, cardboard and bottles, which should go in the yellow bin."
All food scraps, including meat bones and prawn shells, soiled napkins and tissues, go into the green bin, which is then recycled into premium compost.
