A floor-to-ceiling mural is being completed by Dunghutti contemporary Aboriginal artist Jason Ridgeway at the entrance to the Munster Street building.
"The plan at the moment is to represent the Birpai nation on one side with dolphins. We have got the preschool logo in the middle," he said.
"There are three meeting places which will represent the three classrooms of the preschool and circles will represent the waterways such as the Hastings River.
"The leftover blank spaces will be represented by tracks of land from the area."
Another wall of the mural will feature a depiction of local waterways assisted with some help from children.
"The front wall of the school will be represented with the hand prints of around 60 kids. The hand prints will form a painting of the Hastings River," said Mr Ridgeway, who has painted contemporary indigenous art for at least four years.
A second mural is also slated to begin at the preschool's other location in Bagnoo Place during 2020.
Preschool business manager Cara Greenwell said the project had initially been planned in October .
"When we saw Jason painting, we were just amazed with his work," she said.
"We thought it would be a good way to celebrate our journey with culture because we have come a really long way as a preschool. We have 85 students and over 25 per cent of our students are Aboriginal."
