Their senior mixed side went down 7-6 to eventual gold medallists New Zealand in the semi-final before they breezed past New Zealand Maori 10-2 to finish third overall.
Team manager Tim Moorehead admitted his team ran out of legs to the hosts in the semi-final.
"We were up 6-2 and they finished over the top of us," he said.
New Zealand went on to win the tournament.
The invitational tournament saw the Australian Indigenous side take on various other Asian and Pacific Island teams including those from Japan, China, Tahiti and the Cook Islands.
"We won four, lost two and drew one of our pool games," Moorehead said.
"We only got together on the day before the tournament but it helped having those players who have played in Port together.
"There was another group who were the same so it was good to have those two groups who had played together."
Players have now turned their attention to the State Cup in Coffs Harbour in March ahead of an international tournament to be held in Samoa next September.
The team comprised of players from North Queensland, Brisbane, Tamworth, Central Coast and Sydney as well as the strong Kempsey/Port Macquarie contingent.
