I think I speak for everyone in saying how thankful we are that the bushfires in our region have subsided somewhat, and how grateful we are to our firefighters, volunteers and fire service agencies for getting us through this difficult time.

It's wonderful to see many people now returning to their homes, however, unfortunately there has been some properties lost. To those affected I extend my deepest sympathies and encourage you to reach out to council if need be, and to access the support available.
Council will continue to support the RFS and Emergency Service agencies as we begin the recovery process. We will start by looking into any critical assets such as water, bridges and sewer infrastructure that may have been damaged. We'll also be felling problem trees when it is safe to access the affected areas.
With unconfirmed property and stock losses in Upper Pappinbarra, Hollisdale, Forbes River and Rolland Road areas, RFS Rapid Impact Assessment Teams will asses the damage.
While we begin this recovery, it's incredibly important we continue to look after ourselves and each other, especially with the amount of smoke that we've been experiencing.
Remember summer hasn't hit yet, and we are expecting continued dry weather. It is a must to ensure your family has your bushfire survival plan in place... it's really quick to complete this on the RFS website. Also remember to look out for our fauna. If you find any injured wildlife, please contact FAWNA on 6581 4141 or the Koala Hospital on 6584 1522.
Please stay safe and look after one another.
