The fire emergency has triggered an outpouring of donations from people eager to give back to our dedicated firefighters.
Sunset Framing and Gallery in Port Macquarie is acting as a donation collection and distribution point as fires continue to burn in the Hastings.
People can drop off donated items for our firefighters and those displaced by the fires at Sunset Framing and Gallery, 25 Central Road, between 8.30am and 5pm weekdays.
Individuals and businesses are bringing in grocery bags and boxes full of goods.
Sunset Framing and Gallery spokesperson Cherie Morton said they were working to coordinate the donation process.
"So many community people were wanting to help and they felt a bit helpless and lost," she said.
"We thought let's give them some direction, let's give the guys in the field some assistance and put it together."
Ms Morton said the community had been absolutely awesome.
Volunteers have stepped up to help out too as donations flow into the Central Road gallery.
The team is liaising with Rural Fire Service members to get up to date information about what donations they need.
Firefighters are seeking items including bottled water, electrolyte drinks, lip balm, throat lozenges, eye drops and face wipes.
People are also advised to donate some snack foods as well as ring pull tinned goods such as creamed rice, stews and tinned fruit but no baked beans.
Some of the rural fire brigades have called for donations on their Facebook pages.
Sunset Framing and Gallery is also collecting donations for people displaced by the fires with donations needed from feminine hygiene products to deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, pet food and pantry items.
Anyone interested in helping as a volunteer with the donation effort should call Sunset Framing and Gallery on 6583 4100.
