The two sides could not be separated in a tense encounter with a 16-all draw a fitting result.
Lightning had two big innings to start piling on 13 runs with Amanda Badger, Kelly Ward and Natalie Middleton the stand out batters.
Lightning also kept their fielding tight restricting the Warriors. This included Kelly Ward taking a great catch at third base before throwing to Amanda Badger at first for an out. Georgia Boland took a catch at short stop before tagging an advancing runner.
The turning point of the game was the third inning where Warriors settled down and really put the brakes on the Lightning. Brook Harrison-Douglas took a great catch at second base then threw to Justine Trembath at first base for a double play.
Jo Forrester was proving almost unstoppable in the short stop position.
Pitcher Marilyn Bradley and catcher Oliver Rodgers are also forming a formidable pairing.
Jo Bonne, Oliver Rodgers and Jodie Theofanou were the super stars with the bat for Warriors.
Phoenix rising
Phoenix players took part in their first game of the season after last week's bye round and also welcomed several new players to the game.
Lakers started the game shutting Phoenix out with them only scoring one run.
However, Phoenix pitcher Naomi Boyd proved too strong for the Lakes and was able to control the pace of the game with the backing of the entire fielding side.
Lakers tried hard but could only manage one run in the game.
Phoenix batting just got stronger throughout the game scoring seven runs in two innings with Boyd also sporting a new bat and had a massive hit to centre field.
Catcher Courtney Owen showed her softball talent throughout the game.
Phoenix eventually went on to win the contest 15-1.
This Saturday's games will see Phoenix take on Enduro - who were on the bye last week - while Lakers will be looking for a better outcome when they take on the Laurieton Lightning.
