A fairly decent drop of rain was not enough to dampen anyone's spirit with teams travelling from as far afield as Forster, Wauchope, Camden Haven and Port Macquarie for the upcoming season.
Wauchope Warriors returned to the Diamonds after they sat last season out and quite a few new players have lined up to play in the various teams.
The Warriors, fielding a relatively new side faced up to a more experienced Lakers side from Forster.
Lakers whose strength is in their batting put in a mighty effort. Most of the team recording safe hits and scoring 24 runs in quick time. Lakers tight fielding restricted Warriors to three runs.
Warriors showed their spirit never giving up with Brooke Harrison-Douglas taking a brilliant catch at second base.
Helen Totter played exceptionally well at shortstop. Marilyn Bradley and Justine Trembath shared pitching duties.
Enduro then played Laurieton Lightening in the second game of the day. Enduro despite playing short-staffed still managed to get the upper hand over Lightening.
Lili Maclean-Prosser took three catches at left field.
Highlights of Lightening's game was Kelly Ward at third base making four great outs. Also in the fourth innings pitcher Fi Shaw combined with first baseman Amanda Badger to execute a top double play.
Final score Enduro 15 Laurieton Lightening 12
Next Saturday at Findlay Park, Lakers will play Phoenix from 1pm and Laurieton will take on Warriors from 3pm.
