When most people think of cleaning they probably groan.
But Port Macquarie resident Rhiannon Simmonds believes cleaning can actually be fun.
Miss Simmonds is a workshop facilitator at MIDWASTE and is holding two Eco Cleaning workshops at Port Macquarie Library this month (October).
Eco Cleaning is an easy and effective way to clean your home without harsh chemicals.
Miss Simmond said creating your own cleaning products can be fun for the whole family.
"Eco Cleaning workshops are all about creating your own natural products for cleaning at home," she said.
"We run through some simple recipes to help participants to steer away from chemicals and create their own products at home.
"We try and teach the best way to use natural products that are sourced naturally from the environment."
Miss Simmonds said during the workshop she will go through 20 different cleaning recipes but make three recipes on site.
"We make an all purpose cleaner, a grout and oven cleaner and solid bombs that you can use in the bottom of your shower and toilet," she said.
Miss Simmonds said they also try and steer participants to recycling facilities in Port Macquarie.
"We want people to recycle those harder items," she said.
"Those things that you can't put in the recycling bin such as gas bottles, batteries and light globes."
The Eco Cleaning workshops are on Saturday, October 12, 9.30am until 11.30am and Thursday, October 17 at 9.30am until 11.30am. Register at mnclibrary.org.au or 6581 8755.
