Port Macquarie police are encouraging residents to lock their cars and homes in Lighthouse Beach after reports thieves are targeting the area.

A spate of thefts were reported in the area over the September 28 weekend, according to Mid North Coast Police District chief inspector Peter Neville.
The thefts have occurred in Matthew Flinders Drive, Kelvin Grove, The Fairway and the surrounding area.
"There have been a number of incidents involving cash and a phone taken over the last four or five days (from October 2)," he said.
"The circumstances are fairly opportunistic."
Any offences committed should be reported to the police assistance line on 13 14 44.
Investigations are continuing. Port Macquarie residents are encouraged to secure their vehicles and properties.
