The grey skies across the Hastings on September 17 looked like they were going to deliver, but the much-awaited predicted heavy rain didn't come.
Instead, a lightning show, thunder and a bucketing of hail between the Camden Haven and inland to Kendall and Comboyne at around 6pm blanketed parts of the Hastings.
Comboyne experienced the heaviest falls with the storm dumping 1-2cm sized hailstones on Laurieton, Kew and Kendall.
There were reports of good showers at Pappinbarra later in the evening while Port Macquarie eventually got a shower and thunderstorm at about 10pm.
The Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of the Mid-North Coast on Tuesday afternoon which extended as far north as the Queensland border. The warning predicted large hailstones and damaging winds.
Inland, townships around Tamworth saw some storm activity but the rain we've all be waiting for dumped bucket loads south in the Hunter and across the Central Coast.
The Bureau has predicted a high chance of rain across the Hastings on Wednesday, September 18 - up to 10mm - with a top temperature of 22 degrees.
