President Greg Laird OAM says the flags were further enhanced by redirecting two spotlights.
He applauded Port Macquarie-Hastings Council for their support.
"I just feel as though our war memorial looks absolutely beaut here but if you are honest it did look a bit stark in this area of town," he said.
"But now, with the wind blowing a bit, the flags really do enhance the memorial and the wider area.
"I believe we are doing a service to the community by having the Australian flag and the RSL flag flying in the centre of town.
"We have also worked with council to get the spot lights redirected too," he said.
Mr Laird said a number of people had commented to him about how good the general area now looks.
"It's like the cherry on top for the Town Square and the cenotaph," he added.
He said the addition of some colour and movement honours what the sub-Branch is doing within with the community.
