Our region is incredibly diverse, which is why it's so important for us all to focus on ensuring our community facilities and resources cater to all members of our community.
We've been continuously working with local residents, businesses and community groups, such as the Hastings Access Sub-committee, to identify areas of priority in planning to make our region more accessible for everyone.
And the recent upgrades throughout our region are a fantastic starting point in creating a more inclusive, accessible and disability-friendly community.
The new amenities in Short Street, Port Macquarie, are a great addition. They cater for a range of accessibility requirements including featuring an overhead gantry hoist, wheelchair friendly toilet and hand basin, and a height adjustable adult change table.
It's wonderful to see how our community is progressing, and focused on assisting those living with disability, providing much needed facilities throughout our region.
Not only is accessibility important for individuals with disabilities but also for lots of our community members.
This includes the elderly and parents with prams, which is why we are continuing to make our region more convenient for everyone.
Another fabulous upgrade is the installation of new footpaths throughout our region, such as in Telegraph Point and Wauchope.
This is making it much safer for pedestrians, including those with disability, to get around.
And, at the Lake Cathie foreshore we've installed a wheelchair-friendly carousel, and constructed new, more accessible amenities for the community.
Unless we are directly affected, accessibility is often something we don't consider.
But it is really important as a community we continue to provide the necessary requirements for all individuals.
It really is exciting to see these new developments within our community.
And, I am thrilled to see what else is in store in making our region a more inclusive area for everyone.
